Walking your Pet
If you’re walking your pet in the Cemetery grounds, we ask that you keep them on-leash, keep to the roadways, and remember that others using the grounds may be grieving or in need of a quiet space. Keeping your pet on-leash is also important both for the safety of our wildlife as well as for the safety of your pet. SJNCC is NOT an off-leash park, and we appreciate your cooperation in this matter. Please also remember to clean up after your pet (“stoop and scoop”)!
Seasonal Clean-up
We do our Spring clean-up during the week leading up to Easter Sunday. Anything you’d like to keep needs to be removed before the previous Sunday. You’re safe to replace or add any decorations to your lot on or after Easter Sunday.
We do our Fall clean-up during the week before Thanksgiving Sunday. Anything you’d like to keep needs to be removed before the previous Sunday. You’re safe to replace or add any decorations to your lot on or after Thanksgiving Sunday.
Grave Decorations
As our gates are open 24/7 we cannot guarantee the safety or condition of any items or plants placed at the graveside. So, try not to spend too much money or place anything too sentimental to you.
Land Acknowledgement
The land we are standing on today is the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples and is now home to many distinct First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples. We also acknowledge that Toronto is covered by Treaty 13 signed with the Mississaugas of the Credit, and the Williams Treaties signed with multiple Mississaugas and Chippewa bands.
